Linksys Router Issues
A small percentage of Wisper High Speed customers that have Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS model broadband router have been experiencing issues where the Linksys broadband router is locking up causing an interruption to their Internet service. Our technicians have been investigating this issue over the past several days and have determined that this issue is due to bugs in the older firmware running on these Linksys WRT54G and WRT54GS routers. To resolve this issue we need customers to download and upgrade the firmware on their Linksys router to the latest firmware release available for their make/model of Linksys router.
Wisper High Speed support starting seeing an increased volume of calls in regards to this issue on Monday, May 11th. The reports Wisper High Speed support has received are “my connection drops unexpectedly” and “I have to frequently power cycle my Linksys router to restore my service”. So if you have one of these Linksys routers and are experiencing this issue please download and upgrade the firmware on your Linksys router.
